Giuliana and Bill: I Love You and Your New Home!

Ok… I have to admit my addiction to certain reality tv shows… ie. Giuliana and Bill, Million Dollar Decorator, and shhh… Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. But I have an excuse, can you watch anything on tv where you can see better homes and interior design? Seriously, the houses on these shows are AH-MAZING…

Before I started watching Giuliana and Bill I have to admit, I kind of found her annoying. I didn’t get her, didn’t get her story or why she was famous. But one episode of their show changed my mind. And now, I think I have a girl crush on her. Here’s the deal, they are actually somewhat of a real couple, and have gone through real life experiences. I connected with them on their infertility issues, her battle with cancer, and now their beautiful baby boy. AND… they just bought and re-designed the most adorable house in LA… so cute I just had to share with all of you in case you missed it! Designed by the fabulous LA designer Loni Paul.

Ok and seriously this backyard?

To die for!

Outdoor living room… if only this would last in Minnesota!

I could move in right now. Love everything about it! Beautiful house for a beautiful couple 🙂

A Feminine AND Masculine Bedroom

I hear time and time again from my clients the struggle with having a master bedroom that feels comfortable for both the husband and wife. Women tend to like soft light colors, which a lot of times makes the men feel like it’s “too girly”. Here is an idea board that ties the two together. Soft light colors mixed with fur, antlers, and masculine artwork. Brain storming today and thought I would share 🙂

{DIY} Christmas Card Display

One of my favorite things about the holiday season are all the Christmas cards we get in the mail. Every year, they end up going in a basket that sits on the counter, and then every once in a while we will dig through it and look at all the smiling faces. This year, I decided it was time for a change so that we could enjoy all the cards every day, out in the open.

Thanks to pinterest, it wasn’t hard to come up with different ideas on how to display the cards.

This is our display this year!

All you need is some sort of seasonal/holiday sign, ribbon, a staple gun, a command hook and some laundry clips.

Attach the ribbon to the back of your sign with a staple gun. Then, hang a command hook upside down on the back of the door, so it is not visible from the front of the door.

The Most Pinteresting Thing of the Week: December 14th

Here are my top 10 of the week!

I have clients all the time complaining to me about finger prints and hand prints from their little ones on the walls… I wonder if something like this would work as a temporary fix (and cover) for some areas… like a mud room or hallway. I’m sure they make a pattern that isn’t quite so bold…

Love this bathroom. Simple, clean, and beautiful.

Clients also ask me what to do with their big stair landing and window… this is a great idea! Gotta love more storage!

What a great cabinet color for something different!

Love these colors for an updated french country…

Fun DIY idea… those pesky tv walls and what to do without having to spend a ton of money paying for a built in cabinet… this would be great for an apartment or rental.

Love this idea for your kids… what a sweet thing for them to have someday when you are gone.

What a great idea for kids when you are traveling. No fighting and so organized!

This would probably my choice of bridesmaid dress color if I was getting married now.

I still really want to wrap my Christmas gifts like this this year… but seriously I might just need to take a week of no sleeping to get all of this done!

The new color of the year!

Pantone announced last week it’s color of the year for 2013! Every year I get so excited to hear what it is, and every year I’m so NOT SURPRISED. Talk about following fashion and interior design trends…

We’ve been seeing emerald green all over the red carpet…

And the runways….

It didn’t take long for me to find LOTS of different fashion items at my favorite stores… JCrew, Anthropologie, Banana, Nordstroms…

Obviously its been hot in interior design as well….

So what do you think? Will you be buying emerald green this holiday season? It’s fun to see rich colors coming back in style, makes your day a little bit brighter 🙂

The Most PINTERESTING Thing of the Week: December 7th

Here are my top 10 of the week!

Love this idea for a front door. Instead of having a door with sidelights, which are impossible to cover for privacy, have actual windows on each side that can have window treatments!

LOVE this… rustic distressed dining table with a glitzy chandelier over… so fun!

Now this is something I haven’t seen before… wood floor tiles! Interesting idea…

Another one of those, glad I didn’t see this when I was planning my wedding photos… this would have fit right in!

This picture seriously reminds me of my family’s farm… hmm maybe we need to convince Dad to do a sleigh ride on Christmas day? 😉

Coming to the end of the year and I’m really thinking hard about how I want to organize all of our photos. I want to make sure they are backed up and we will have them for years. Like this idea as one organized option…

And I definitely am going to do this once we get all of our Christmas pictures taken… a family “yearbook” every year…

The busier I’m getting the more I’m dreaming of organizing a home office. Someday…

I really love this chair…

And these barstools! Love that you can find barstools that are more feminine now!

…and the stockings were hung by the chimney with care

I love Christmas stockings… they are such a personal touch to a family’s Christmas decor. I was on the market for new Christmas stockings this year and thought I would share all the different beautiful stockings I came across on my search!
