The Shops at Target: Round 2

Well, they have done it again… Target has announced the new fall “Shops at Target“. This time its MUCH more eclectic, random, and well lets just say, I’m curious to see how they do this time.

You never know… these shops could be a huge hit- something totally different for Target that people have been waiting for… not me, but maybe other people???

I will try to be as unbiased as possible…

And now… the Fall 2012 Shops at Target!

First up: Patch NYC

This shop is a tiny little shop from the east coast. The owners boast of all their items having a “story”… definitely a fun concept and something we don’t see that often. (at least in the big box super center hub of the country- the midwest)

Owl bookends, $24.99

Lots of outdoor decor…

Cake plate, $25.00

hmm… not so sure about these…

Next up: The Curiosity Shop

The name is quite appropriate for the product. A bunch of randomness… that makes me, for one, curious. There are a few cute things.

Cute and quirky paper products… cards made out of wood, natural paper boxes…

no comment

I’m trying to think how I would include these into a design… I’ve got nothin…

Ok ok… let’s try the 3rd shop: Odin New York

This definitely is a trendy men’s shop, but actually the pieces aren’t too bad. Definitely a step up from the typical men’s line at Target, so this is kind of refreshing. You be the judge:

A picture from the store…

And the final shop: Kirna Zabete

Once again a NYC fashion boutique graces the floors of Target. I was hoping the women’s line would be better than last time, but I’m sorry to say from what I’ve seen once again I am not too excited 😦 I’m holding onto the hope that maybe there will be things that look better in person then they do photographed???

wishful thinking?

Good idea… but lips on the bag? Can’t we tone anything down???

Well, there is no hiding it… not too excited about these new shops coming this fall. Maybe I will be pleasantly surprised, but I’m not getting my hopes up.

What do you think? I would love to hear your opinions on these things, especially once we can see them in person starting September 9th.

The most PINTERESTING things of the week: August 24th

Here are my top 10 pins of the week!

New project this week! Bathroom remodel- with a modern twist! Super excited to start on this!

Love the clean lines on this cabinetry. The framed mirror is great… The floors are great too! So sophisticated!

Accent wall of tile… such a fun way to dress up a boring wall!

So… we made a mistake by not buying the ottoman that came with our chair in the nursery. Every night we miss having one. I worry about ordering it now and having issues with dye lots (designers nightmare) so I’ve been trying to decide on an ottoman that is totally different then the chair. Found this on pinterest… maybe my next DIY project???

If this is as easy as it sounds I should start selling them, because this is C U T E!

Now that I’m lugging a baby every where with me… the high heels are taking a vacation. I’m more obsessed with flats then ever, and these are definitely my next purchase!

Man do baby stores know how to sucker moms into buying their kids all sorts of clothes… put ears on any shirt/sweatshirt/jacket and it will end up in Louie’s closet!

This is one of those dresses that I KNOW I couldn’t pull off… but have a STRONG feeling that one of my beautiful friends HAVE to buy it… Hillary this alllllll you!!!!

So my niece has a stuffed animal monkey, and this monkey does EVERYTHING Louie does when they are together. If Louie drools, Monkey is drooling… if Louie is fussy Ari says Monkey is being fussy. My sis pinned this pic and I love it so much I had to repin! We have to make these for Ari… it would make her week!

Every once in a while I start to dream about building our next house… and then I see this picture and it makes me want to call a builder tomorrow 😉

And I would like to have this in my backyard…

Trend Report: Ombre

Design is a funny thing… you never know when you are going to come across a new trend.

A year ago-February, while working for Mary Hickey Interiors, we took a trip to the Chicago Merchandise Mart to work on a project for a new client. There were so many fabulous things we saw that week, but one thing that still stands out in my mind were these fabulous window treatments in the David Sutherland Showroom.

Now remember, this was February 2011. Fast forward to Fall 2011, during New York’s Fashion Week, where all the new Spring 2012 fashion trends are presented. One of the main trends on the runway: Ombre.

And now, almost a year and a half after our Chicago trip, while perusing one of my favorite pass-time websites, Pinterest, you can find Ombre almost every where!

Food:

Hairstyles:

Pretty much in everything:

Ombre everywhere!

And finally, after a great weekend away visiting family, while thumbing through the newest West Elm catalog, I came across one of their newest products for the fall line: an Ombre Dye Rug!

As you can see this is a HUGE trend that has been building up over the past year and a half… what do you think of this latest trend? Can you see yourself in the latest Ombre fashion? Or possibly a new ombre hair color… or maybe the latest West Elm hand-loomed wool rug? It’s definitely a fun trend, and I know I am going to have to get me a little piece of it 🙂

Targét Boutique!

For years, we have been calling the big box superstore Target – Targét Boutique! I believe this started back when we were in college and shopping at Target seemed like a luxury compared to the discount big box stores of Walmart and Kmart.

Well now, for a short period of time, you can actually go boutique shopping in Targets around the country!

Starting May 6th, The Shops at Target will be open for business.

The Candy Store: San Francisco based candy store

A collection of classic favorite candies wrapped to perfection!

Cos Bar: Independent beauty boutique from Aspen

Everything under $20, you can shop a collection of beauty basics including bath accessories, tools, and body care.

Polka Dog Bakery: A Boston based dog shop

A limited edition collection of biscuits, bones, colorful bowls, and stylish accessories!

Privet House: A Connecticut shop of home decor

A curated collection of antiques and decor for the home, kitchen, table and garden.

The Webster: A Miami based fashion boutique

A collection of clothing and accessories for women, men, kids, and baby with a Miami, Florida vibe.

I visited Target first thing this morning to get a look at these fun new pieces… here are a few shots from my local store

It will be exciting to see how these do, and rumor has it… more boutiques are coming in the future!
